"I had the privilege of working with Rachel Griffin when my son, then 5, was involved with the mental health system. We are a family formed by adoption and my son's issues were many and complex. Rachel introduced me to the idea that instead of "changing" our son or expecting him to change, we should try to understand his needs as a child of adoption and trauma, his way of processing the world around him and begin a dialog based on those rather than our expectations. It was our first step on the road to healing. The only reason we are not connected to Rachel any longer is that we moved out of state. We have asked her (repeatedly) to move too, but she has declined. Now it is your turn to let Rachel help your family to heal."

"Rachel Griffin helped our family remember why we love each other. She gave us a listening ear and was accommodating with our schedules (sometimes meeting at 8:00 at night) and understood what we needed to help our family. She has a sense of humor that breaks the ice and she paid attention to each person in our "tribe." Our experience with Rachel Griffin was very positive."

Rachel Griffin worked with our child J, in 2010. She provided in-home and community-based attachment and behavioral services for our family. At the time, J. engaged in behaviors that ranged from self-injurious harming, suicidal ideation, RAD, oppositional defiance, complex PTSD, and was engaging in sexualized acting out behaviors. Ms. Griffin was able to blend into our family’s culture with respect, dedication and compassion. Our daughter had some very extreme behaviors at the time and Ms. Griffin exuded a calm presence in each instance, modeling for J’s caregivers-myself included- how to respond to her behaviors consistently, calmly and compassionately.
I would recommend Ms. Griffin without hesitation to work with children, teens, adults, and their families-especially in cases where the family has intense needs and or in crisis.” M.F. and L.B. Redding, CA |

"Rachel didn't so much focus on our most behaviorally challenging issues, but helped us feel competent in working on the challenge ourselves. She's a good guide and good listener. She had rapport with our teenage son (15 years old) immediately and got him to participate in the coaching process."

"I want to share our awesome experience with a local family coach-- Rachel Griffin of Ohana Coaching-- just in case you find yourselves needing some help negotiating this whole distance learning thing with your kids. In our case, we were looking for help in understanding how to best set-up workspaces in our (tiny) house so we could support both of our kids' personal needs. We have one 4th grader who has executive functioning challenges and explodes her work all over our house (I'm STILL looking for her spelling worksheet ) and one who is a teen and needs to stay motivated and focused (not easy when you're at home instead of at school!). Rachel was phenomenal. She has an uncanny ability to SEE what makes children tick and interpret that into what they need to feel successful and happy. She made succinct and doable suggestions that have totally transformed our original ideas about how we thought we'd organize the spaces. And more than that, she gave us tons of insight into what each of our kids needs from us to really be successful in this challenging time. I'm going to keep using her coaching services as we head into the year because I know she'll be able to decode what's going on for my kids and put an action plan into place. I highly recommend her. She uses a sliding scale and really wants to make it work for families. She is also very well-versed in coaching at-risk kids and those with sensory challenges".
